Helmets - The Patterns and Uses of the Different Style Helmets

New schemes from banks and other companies have made access to our passions much easier and the only passion common in the youth is the bike-riding. As such, number of bikes in the country has increased tremendously. Increased traffic means increased number of risks of accidents on roads. Some really responsible citizens always use a helmet for their protection, but past many years the use of motorcycle helmets has been made mandatory. As a result, people are deciding upon which helmet to wear and which not. This confusion is very common and just needs the right guide for the same. Type of helmet depends upon your riding experience like amateur, professional or novice. In any case, a helmet is a pre-condition for a safe riding.

The two types of helmets available are 'full face helmets' and 'modular helmets'. For a novice or a beginner, a safer helmet, i.e. a full face helmet accompanied with ISI mark is preferable. A full face helmet covers your head down to the chin. There is a bar fixed at the chin which is movable for the rider's convenience, but the only a kind of drawback in these helmets is that you need to take them out for having something or for drinking water. These drawbacks can be undermined, for they will provide confidence to excel your riding skills with ensured safety.

Next are the professional or experienced riders which need the speed and must wear a helmet too. The risk of crashes increases with the pace. Full face helmets are heavy, but much safer. Actually, there is no significant difference between full face and modular helmets. It's just that the modular helmets are less heavy and do not need to be removed when drinking water, etc. and just need to pull the face mask up. From the safety point of view for the speedy riders, full face helmets are more advisable. Besides the protection of head, dust and rush of air is also averted from entering into eyes with help of the face mask in front. Lesser the number of distractions, lesser is the risk of mishap.

The amateur riders, riding for fun and at a low-risk speed, have a full fledged choice of helmets. Helmets come in various sizes and appearances. Stylish helmets, although less, but do have a safety factor and are preferred by the calm riders. All of them may not be ISI certified, but are ideal for voyaging leisurely.

In spite of the importance and necessity of wearing a helmet, many still overlook its use. It is still felt uncool to wear a helmet, talking practically. Let me give you a true example of the importance of a helmet enough convincing in my view. I, myself, used to hate wearing a helmet, until I met a crushing mishap. It was a usual day and I was going to hang out with friends and for us, bikes are important for hang outs. As we were moving on to the destination, we sped up on a road without any bumps. Who knew that just due to the scattered sand particles, my bike would skid off the road. I was shoved on the road with so huge thrust that there was hardly any body part left without any bruises, but my head had the worst wreck of it all. Doctor even suggested a CT scan for head and X-ray for one shoulder. I got bulges on my cheeks and looked like a black moon for more than a week and all this wouldn't happen if I had wore a helmet, be it full face or modular. What worse than this could make a guy realise the importance of a helmet? I wear it regularly since then and hopefully you all will do the same.

Popular Custom Chopper Parts For Your Next Project

The chopper is one of the most unique looking motorcycles on the road today for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons is that they have a look like no other bike on the road and are unique in the sense that they are created based on a new and fresh design just about each and every time. The chopper really is a motorcycle like a Harley Davidson with many of it's parts replaced by custom parts and accessories. The existing parts of the chopper have been chopped off. Another type of chopper is one that has been built completely from scratch, and not broken down from an existing motorcycle.

There are a number of reasons motorcycles are turned into choppers. A couple reasons being that this is done to make the motorcycle lighter and more maneuverable. Of course, another important reason that choppers exist is because of the unique look that they create, and their creators love to show them off. We started seeing choppers early on around the time of World War II when it was desired by the soldiers that were coming home to have lighter motorcycles like they had over in Europe. The only way they could make the bikes lighter was to "chop" parts off of the motorcycle, hence the name, Chopper. This started an entirely new trend as many people began looking for new and interesting chopper parts and the market began to boom.

There are a number of chopper parts that are popular among those who enjoy building chopper motorcycles. The handlebars, wheels, and tires are a few of the more popular parts that are typically "chopped" when a custom chopper is built. Handlebars are usually modified so that they reach further back towards the rider in order to make for a more comfortable ride. There are a number of different chopper style wheels that can be added to the motorcycle to give it a little extra class. Some of the most popular types of wheels are the magnesium alloy which create the perfect chopper look. Others still also prefer the spoke look and have not strayed to far from that concept. In most cases the front tire is changed to a bigger and skinnier tire, and the rear is changed to a wide and smaller tire.

Some of the more popular chopper parts also include the frame, seats, fuel tank, and brakes. These parts can be easily customized with custom paint jobs, designs, and more to give the chopper a unique look and feel of its own. One thing to keep in mind is that before you purchase chopper parts for your motorcycle, be sure that they will be compatible with your bike and that you buy your chopper parts from a legit dealer. Purchasing chopper parts can be somewhat costly, but in the end they are definitely worth money when you see the finished product that they have become a part of.

Why Should You Wear Motorcycle Helmets?

Due to the advent of technology and urbanization man has created a lot of things for his convenience. People in order to create comfort and to enjoy a lot of luxuries developed these inventions into daily use products. Like cars and motorcycles which are now called bikes. A motorcycle is a vehicle that is used for transport facilities by humans.

A motorcycle has two wheels and a rider has to sit on it and ride. Unlike cars motorcycles are not covered or surrounded by four doors which actually protect the rider. If a man riding a bike falls down he has to hit the down. This will sustain injuries to the rider. Most of the accidents that happen to the rider affect the head. It is a lot more difficult to escape from a head injury than any other injuries on the human body.

This is the reason why motorcycle helmets were introduced. motorcycle helmets refers to a head gear; it is a protective head gear that is used by the motorcycle riders. The prime requisite of wearing motorcycle helmets is that it prevents or reduces the chances of a severe head injury in certain cases it ends up saving the person's life.

Motorcycle helmets have evolved since their invention. These days' helmets are also used for style purposes. They protect the ears, face shields are provided and there is also room for ventilation. The motorcycle helmet was invented by a doctor who faced a lot of patients due to motorcycle accidents. His detailed research in the area led to the invention of the helmet. The helmet introduced the number of accidents and fatalities caused by the motorcycle to a greater extent.

Due to this many countries have created laws that have made it mandatory for motorcycle riders to use the helmet while riding the motorcycle. There are different types of helmets and a few other special types that are used by racers. But the basic types are five in number. They are full face, off road/motocross, modular or flip-up; open face or ¾, half helmet. All these types of helmets as special in their own way and by the end of the day they all provide protection to our heads. Certain helmets are designed in such a way to protect the whole face as well. So people use helmets save lives.

Wearing Harley Davidson Helmet is Worth the Fuss

Like the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the Harley-Davidson helmet has its distinct look that compliments the total effects of riding a Harley. Although the purpose remains the same like any other helmets in the market, the Harley-Davidson in effect projects style that makes the Harley rider feel what should be felt. But, many would still ask: is a Harley-Davidson helmet worth wearing?

Year after year, many motorcycle accidents have been reported all over the country. These resulted to severe head injuries to the people involved. Or worse, these accidents claim lives. Why? Majority of people involve in motorcycle accidents do not wear helmets. And some would say that if these people only wear helmets, their fate may have been different or the damage created may have been minimized.

Just recall the motorcycle accident of the football star "Big Ben" Roethlisberger. (Oh, for those who do not know Big Ben, he is the star quarterback of the Pittsburg Steelers.) Many say that if only Big Ben wore a helmet, would only walk away with minor bruises.

It was said and will be said over and over again: Helmets protect you.

For people who think that wearing helmet while riding their Harley-Davidson would mean removing their freedom that the motorcycle projects, they might disregard its importance. But the fact still remains, in case of accident, a helmet would come in handy.

Here's the statistics: In the State of California, study shows that out of 900 accidents involving motorcycles, 980 necks have been injured. Most of them are not wearing helmets. Here's another fact. In Canada, nobody can ride motorcycle without wearing helmet. Sadly (well, it may not be sad at all to most riders), here in the United States, many states would let riders to exercise their freedom whether to wear helmet or not.

It is a given fact that helmet is the most important accessory to buy after buying Harley-Davidson motorcycle. And it must be worn when riding a motorcycle at all times. So, thinking of skipping a Harley-Davidson should not be on the list of things to do.

To wrap up, owning a Harley-Davidson takes a lot of responsibility. Unlike 4-wheel vehicles, when your ride motorcycle, you are exposed and more prone to injuries during accidents. And the best way to protect yourself from any damage that can be resulted from this accident is to wear a helmet.

Snowmobile Basics

Snowmobiles are truly one of the best winter activities and if you haven't tried them, you owe it to yourself to at least give it a go.

Before operating your snowmobile, it is always important to note the safety precautions that must always be followed. These are the equipment you should always have before going for a ride:

A helmet - A snowmobile helmet is absolutely necessary for obvious reasons, yet many people tend to take the risk and ride without one. If you want to talk to each other during breaks and are too lazy to remove your helmet, then stop giving excuses and invest in a good modular snowmobile helmet which allows you to flip up the face shield and chin bar easily.

Goggles - There is a wide range of snowmobile goggles available, with light weight ones, those with a nose mask, double lenses, anti-fog lens, and even some with lots of face foam for maximum comfort.

Gloves - You want to keep your hands warm at all times as they'll how you'll be steering your snowmobile. Cold hands often make for slower reaction times so keep those hands warm at all times.

Snowmobile suit - Don't forget, it's winter and you don't want to catch hypothermia. A good snowmobile suit should have water inner lining to protect you from the elements.

You also have to make sure that the equipment fit you well and is fastened properly as snowmobiles is a vigorous activity and we don't want anything flying off when we're having fun.

Remember, snowmobiles is great fun and extremely addictive, but you only have fun when you stay safe. Do not take unnecessary risks and always make sure you have the proper equipment before setting out.

Open Face Helmet Styles - One For Every Preference

The open face helmet is a great style for both men and women. This is also known as a three quarters style. It is a protective head covering designed to help withstand impact to the head. The great thing about this type is that there are so many different configurations available! These are mainly popular within the motorcycle community but they also have their place with riders of all terrain vehicles and quad runners. Many laws require riders to wear helmets for safety purposes and these are certainly a great choice.

The design of the open face helmet is such that a hard outer shell (usually made of carbon fiber, Kevlar or strong plastic) covers the entire back of the head. Inside that hard covering is lining of polypropylene or polystyrene. This type of foam can withstand impact and help prevent serious head injury. The foam may then be covered with a soft material to provide comfort to the wearer. This style fits snug to the head and is help tight with an adjustable chinstrap. Some helmets come with a visor, while others do not. If the model you choose does not come with a visor or face shield, you will want to invest in some protective goggles.

A feature of the open face helmet that many riders like is the ability to customize it. Many of these helmets have snaps. You can purchase accessories that will snap directly on and are interchangeable. Some available customization pieces include snap on goggles, visors and shields. Other accessories that can be used with this style include speaker and microphone sets. These are particularly useful when communicating with other riders during a road trip. You can also purchase custom skins for your helmets. These skins instantly change the look. Plain black is now camouflage. Silver and blue becomes a flat green. The choices are endless!

Other styles beyond the open face helmet include the full-face. This covers the entire head including the chin. A visor that raises and lowers shields the eyes. These usually have vents on the chin and forehead, which help get fresh air to the rider. These offer the most protection, but they can feel quite confining to some riders. There is also the off road or motocross helmet. These are made to provide extra protection to riders that compete in off road events. The likelihood of a fall or wipe out is pretty good during these competitions and the riders need as much protection as possible to avoid concussions and life-threatening brain injuries. The flip up style (also known as 'modular') is a hybrid of sorts. It has the features of a full-face while offering a flip up chin piece. These are also called convertible helmets. Finally, there is the half-helmet. This is similar to the open face helmet although these rarely have any type of face shield provided. They also do not extend down to cover the back base of the head where skull meets base.

Is a Fixed Rate Mortgage a Good Deal?

A fixed rate mortgage has both positive and negative aspects to it, a lot of the decision on whether it is positive or negative will come down to your individual circumstances. These mortgages was the original type of mortgage that has been available for many years and was the only type available. A fixed rate mortgage is where the interest rate of the mortgage is fixed for the term of the loan, so the repayments are the same from the fist repayment you made until the last repayment. These mortgages can be mixed with adjustable rate mortgages. The usual terms are for 15 years or 30 years but you will also find that a mortgage can be negotiated for 10, 20 or 40 years. The cost of the mortgage is divided into equal payments over the term of the mortgage term.

The benefits of a fixed rate is that you always know that you will have the same payment every month which gives you certainty in your financial planning. If interest rates rise you will not be affected as your rate is fixed. As the years pass by the cost of the mortgage from your financial budget is actually reducing as you receive pay increases in your job and reduce spending in household requirements, which is normal when moving into a new house. Some of the negative points are that if interest rates decrease then your interest rate won't decrease. When you take out a fixed rate loan they always seem to be higher than the adjustable rate mortgages, so you are behind from the very beginning.

Choosing a fixed rate mortgages is about being risk adverse to rising interest rates, if you believe on average over the term of the loan, the adjustable rate mortgages will be higher than a fixed rate would be a sensible option to consider.

Snowmobile Helmets - Safety First

Snowmobile helmets are specialized helmets worn when one is riding a snowmobile and is a very important part of the outfit of a sled biker. Sled helmets offer protections to the head in case of crash as well as protection to the sleder from wind and cold. The helmet should therefore be worn at all times.

They come in different designs from different manufactures. These are the 4 major brands available:

GMAX
HJC
AFX
Z1R

Snowmobilers, therefore, require to carefully choose helmets that best suit their needs. It is important for snowmobilers to select the right size for them. Sizing charts are available to help the drivers select the right size when shopping online. Snowmobilers can also visit the outlet where they can get a chance to try out different styles and sizes of cart helmets and select one that bests suits their needs.

There are 3 main types of ice sled helmets, which are:

Modular ice wagon helmets
These ones have a front section that flips up when one is taking a break and are commonly used by riders who wear glasses.
Full face sledge helmets.
These ones cover the entire head and have a flip up shield and removable breath box that aids in reducing fogging of the shield.
Sno-cross helmets.
These have a duck bill visor attached to the helmet, eye ports and a breath box. It requires the use of goggles and is mainly used for aggressive racing.
Snowmobilers face certain challenges when selecting and purchasing snowmobile helmets. These challenges include:
There are few dealers who stock these helmets. Sled drivers have to go to great lengths to find dealers stocking toboggan helmets in the desires style and size.
Most dealers lack proper information on handling and maintenance of luge helmets.
Snowmobiling is a seasonal sport taking place during the winter only. Sled drivers helmets are therefore not stocked all year round and when they are stocked, they tend to sell out very quickly.
Different manufactures produce varying sizes and fit of these helmets. Each brand is therefore different from the other which can create confusion for snowmobile drivers.

It is important for snowmobilers to ensure that they have the right gear and that all their gear is in excellent shape to protect them against injury. Luge helmets are especially important and should be worn at all time when on is snowmobiling. It is safe for everyone to prepare themselves with proper accessories before they start driving fast on ice. So get one today!

The face cover lock mechanism exceeds expectations for safety by utilizing metal pins and hooks, making it extremely resistant to opening in the event of an accident. The flow through ventilation system helps keep you comfortable, while the anti-scratch, quick release and sun visors help keep your perspective clear. The inner lining is fully removable and washable. These helmets come in 5 different sizes and 3 different designs to fit you and your personality perfectly.

Shark Evoline Modular Helmet Review at Revzilla.com

www.revzilla.com The Shark Evoline Modular Helmet is one of RevZilla's best-selling and most versatile helmets. The most important feature of this helmet is its design to be ridden with the chin-bar up or down. The Helmet is Aerodynamic in both positions and the Shield's position is not dictated by the chin-bar's, like most helmets. The Shark Evoline also has a retractable sun-visor, fully removable washable liner and a ECE-2205 World Standard Safety Rating

DOT Motorcycle Helmet Basics

Let me start by telling you a little about myself and how I got into DOT Motorcycle Helmets. For the past five seasons I have been riding a motorcycle. I have a passion for riding and would like to ride for the rest of my life...in order to do so, I want to be as safe and protected as I can...while still being able to enjoy the ride.

So five years ago...before even purchasing my first street motorcycle at the age of 34...I bought a full set of gear. Now I'm not talking about just a helmet and gloves. I'm talking about the helmet, the gloves, the jacket, the pants and the boots. I felt like Evel Knievel walking around the house for about two weeks before even getting my motorcycle home...of course I had to break the gear in...what better way than wearing it?

Why did I purchase all this "stuff" before even having my ride? Because I knew when I did buy my bike, I would be so excited that I would just want to jump on that thing and run it 'till it was out of gas and not even THINK about motorcycle gear. So I chose the cautious route and bought gear that I knew would keep me safe...call it skin insurance if you will.

One of the main pieces of gear that I looked at, was the motorcycle helmet. I mean, up until this point in life I didn't know anything about helmets other than they go on your head...so I started doing some research. And that is what brings me here...so that I can share some of the information I've gathered over the years to help you in your gear purchase experience.

So, here are some basics of the DOT motorcycle helmet...

First, what is this DOT mean?

DOT stands for the department of transportation and is part of a certification process that is used on all motorcycle helmets. This is to ensure the helmet meets minimum safety requirements and can be certified for use on the roads.

Why is this certification important?

If you buy a helmet that does not have the DOT certification...it means you are buying something that doesn't even meet the minimum standard of safety requirements. It means a DOT motorcycle helmet will give you a better chance of walking away from an accident than not wearing a DOT certified helmet.

Types of DOT motorcycle helmets...

There are a number of types of motorcycle helmets...some offer more protection than others...while others offer more ventilation than others. The main types of helmets are German motorcycle helmets, 3/4 face motorcycle helmets, full face motorcycle helmets and modular motorcycle helmets.

German motorcycle helmets -- the German style of motorcycle helmet came into being during World War II, where the German army officers that rode motorcycles wore helmets. The modern version of this helmet is now called a half helmet, beanie or shorty helmet today. It covers just above your eye brows in the front, to the center of the back of your head. They have a meaner look to them as they expose more of a person's head and face. You will see this style of helmet on a lot of chopper or cruiser bike riders.

Full Face motorcycle helmets -- this style of helmet is the extreme opposite of the German helmet in that it covers from the bottom of the chin in front, to the base of the skull in the back. There is a visor that can flip open in the front allowing ventilation, as well as vents in the front, sides and top of the helmet. A full face motorcycle helmet is the only style of helmet that can qualify for the Snell Memorial Foundations certification, as Snell measures the safety of the chin and mouth protection in addition to the rest of the helmet. Snell certification has a higher safety level than the DOT certification, as Snell certification looks at the helmets for use in racing. Full face helmets will then provide full head protection, excluding the neck of the rider. This style of helmet will most often be found on sport or semi-sport bike riders.

3/4 Face Motorcycle Helmets -- this style of helmet is similar to the full face helmet, with the exception of the chin and mouth protection, where it is open in front. This allows more protection than the German helmet as well as more ventilation then the full face helmet. This helmet can sometimes be fitted with a flip up shield allowing more wind protection or have a replaceable visor which can shield your eyes from the sun. This style of helmet is typically worn by touring bike riders.

Modular Motorcycle Helmets -- this style of helmet has in recent years been taking to the scene, as it is a mix of the 3/4 face helmet and the full face helmet. On this helmet, the chin and mouth protection can be flipped up at the push of a button allowing additional ventilation to very quickly enter the helmet. However, with the chin and mouth protection in the open, it is not advisable to ride with the helmet in this position as it will cause significant wind buffeting and could potentially damage the helmet. In light of this, Shark has come out with the Evoline modular motorcycle helmet, where the chin and mouth protection can be flipped all the way to the back of the helmet...allowing the helmet to be almost fully 3/4 and full faced at the flip of a button. This style of helmet is typically worn by the touring or semi-sport bike riders...but is gaining popularity across all styles of riders.

So there you have it...these are some of the basics of DOT motorcycle helmets. When you are deciding on which type of helmet to choose, take into consideration the style of bike that you ride and the average temperature that you are riding in. Taking both into consideration should guide you to the best choice of helmet for your given purpose and needs. Safe and happy riding!

Looking For a New Helmet

If you are an experienced rider or even possibly a new rider, you will need to buy a new helmet at some point in time. Shopping for a new helmet, the selection of helmets for you to choose from can be overwhelming. There are some important details you will want to look for before choosing a helmet.

The first detail would be the D.O.T. certification. The U.S. Department of Transportation sticker on the back of the helmet is a way for you to be assured that the helmet has passed the D.O.T. standards. The standards require the helmet absorb a significant amount of the impact's energy, the ability to prevent penetration, and to have a fastening system that will withstand a large amount of force.

The second detail would be the helmet's ability to stay on your head. Trying on a helmet for fit and comfort is important, but you will also want the helmet to stay on your head in the event of a crash. You can find out whether a helmet has the ability to stay on with a simple test. Fasten the chinstrap snugly; you should feel some push on your chin. Then you want to grab the back of the helmet and lift it rolling it forward. If it hurts and the helmet still comes off, keep shopping for another helmet.

Another detail is comfort. Comfort of a helmet can make a difference in enjoying a long ride on your motorcycle or a miserable one. Some people might tell you that there is no such thing as a comfortable helmet, but after having them try 40 selections of helmets they found one that was comfortable. They are now a believer. There is a comfortable helmet for everyone. You may have to try several different dealers and try on every helmet in each store, but you will find one.

Fit is another important detail. Fit will also have something to do with the helmet being able to stay on your head. A helmet that fits, as it should, will probably be a little tight. as you pull it on. This would be because of the foam lining, which is the main component to sealing out the wind noise inside the helmet. If the helmet pulls on easily, it will probably be noisy and won't fit, as it should. The interior lining of the helmet will settle and compress a certain amount, to mold to your head, so a little tight is better than too loose.

Another important detail you need to remember when choosing a helmet is the area of coverage the helmet will give you. You can say the more coverage the better. Recent studies have shown that motorcyclists with facial injuries are more likely to have brain injuries, in fact about 3.5 times more likely. Those motorcyclists with facial fractures are 6.5 more times likely to have brain injuries. The full-face helmet provides more protection than the full coverage open-faced helmet or the half helmet.

The face shield has certification information molded into it. As you are trying on the helmet, make note of any areas of distortion. If any are found, especially in the area of your line of vision you will want to find another helmet. Distortions in face shields are fairly rare, but they still do exist. So double-check your face shield.

If you are looking for helmets with special features, you can find bluetooth modular helmets on the market.

The Nolan N102 N-Com is just one of several bluetooth modular helmets available on the market. The retail price for this is $740. However every new N102 works with Nolan's N-Com connection kits. If you are not ready to pay that amount of money for a bluetooth modular helmet, you can buy just the base helmet for $350 and add the Bluetooth when you are ready. A bluetooth modular helmet like this is more popular with the older generation. The entire front flips up to expose your face. It also comes with hook ups for bluetooth, intercom, and a 3.5-mm jack for your iPod. Quick-release chinstrap is extremely convenient. The flip-front can easily accommodate bifocals. It includes volume control, and a paint job that hides scratches.

A bluetooth modular helmet can be noisy. The microphone requires constant moving when putting the bluetooth modular helmet on or taking it off. It is one of the largest headpieces on the road.

The Vemar Jiano Bluetooth Modular Helmet comes fully equipped and there is no assembly required. It is compatible with your cell phone, GPS, and other electronics. It can be connected to your MP3, but is not meant to be a high-quality sound system for music. It comes equipped with stereo speakers. The Jiano Bluetooth Modular Helmet will operate for up to 10 hours on a charge. By using two together you will be able to communicate with a wireless connection with your passenger. The bluetooth is easy to operate, even while wearing gloves. This bluetooth modular helmet comes in a variety of sizes from XXS to XXL. This bluetooth modular helmet was engineered in Italy to the motorcyclist specific EC standard. It comes with a five year warranty from the date it was manufactured, which is equal to its useable life of this bluetooth modular helmet. It is D.O.T. certified. The Jiano Bluetotth Modular helmet features a mid oval shell shape, which offers a generous fit from the front to the back of the helmet, and fits more snugly from ear to ear. This helmet has a very comfortable fit for riders who like long rides. The internal liner fits the rider without any kind of pressure points. The exterior is made from an ultra light thermoplastic material. The exterior shell is aerodynamically shaped for ease of cutting through wind with less buffeting and wind noise. This helps in reducing the amount of stress on the rider's neck muscles after a long ride. The face cover of the Jiano Bluetooth Modular helmet has a lock mechanism, which exceeds expectations for safety and convenience. The face cover lock utilizes metal pins and hooks, making it extremely resistant to opening in the event of a crash. The actuation button is easy to use with gloved hands. An extra anti-fog, non-scratch 2.2 mm thick outer quick release dark tinted shield is included with each helmet. These are just some of the special features the Vemar Jiano Bluetooth Modular Helmet offers. To see more about this helmet find a dealer near you and check it out.

What You Need to Know About ATV Chest Protectors

ATV chest protectors, in addition to helmets and goggles, are must have safety gear to use when riding. They are frequently also referred to as roost deflectors. When worn, they can help people escape major injury if you happen to have a bad spill. Constructed from flexible plastic and foam pads, they provide protection for your chest and depending on the specific model, your shoulders and back. Riding motocross or off-road on rocky terrain is an excellent reason to get one.

Chest protectors are designed in many different forms, each for a particular need. You will only get a relatively modest degree of extra protection from a entry level protector. A more sophisticated one may also have pads for the shoulders, padding for the elbows and back pads, giving complete upper body protection. Some companies offer modular ones, so you can add or remove pads to customize it to your liking.

ATV Chest protectors come in a large selection of styles and colors, even though they are made for protection rather than appearances. You can also place it under the riding jacket if you don't care for the color or style. It's vital to know that your protection instead of fashion ought to be the main thing to contemplate.

Does every quad owner in fact need one? An ATV chest protector is not always needed. If you only use your quad for doing general jobs on the family farm, they are probably unnecessary. Motocross riders and racing enthusiasts are going to benefit the most from wearing one. If you happen to crash, wearing it may make the difference between walking away uninjured and a visit to the hospital or even the unthinkable.

As is true with other equipment, thoroughly inspect the quality of the design. When viewing it, check where the straps connect to the plastic. Higher rate ones will actually rivet or sew the nylon straps right into the plastic. Look for a well made connection. Also, consider the pads. How are they attached to the plastic? Is the plastic bendy, but well made, or does it seem to be brittle?

It is best to correctly maintain your mx chest protector. Cleaning them in most cases is simply a matter of wiping them using a soft cloth. If it's covered with thick dirt, hosing them off with fresh water should remove heavy dirt and avoid scratching. Take proper care with chemicals. The plastic or foam can unfortunately be ruined. Light soap with water is generally a great method to tidy dirty ones.

Chest protectors are only one of several necessary precautions for quad owners. If you are new to riding ATV's, there are several good places on the internet where you can learn more.

Scorpion EXO-900 Transformer Helmet Review at RevZilla.com

www.revzilla.com As riders continue to seek more versatility from their gear, manufacturers continue to deliver multi-faceted products that are adaptable. The Scorpion EXO-900 Transformer helmet is Scorpion's foray into the modular helmet game. The EXO-900 Transformer ups the ante by allowing you to toollessly convert from a full-face to an open-face with the included peak visor. Rather than flipping up like most other modulars, the EXO-900's chin bar is fully removable including the face shield. Pop that off, install the peak visor, and drop down the retractable sun visor, and you're ready for the open road. Another really neat feature of this helmet is the AirFit™ pump system (think Reebok Pumps) that allows you to inflate and deflate the cheek pads for a custom fit. This helmet is stacked with features at a very reasonable price point.

Looking For A New Motorcycle Helmet-Be Sure To Look For The Right Features

Let's face it: it's not a good idea to skimp on a helmet. The majority of bike-related deaths come from head injury.

A well-built helmet should offer a wide variety of benefits:

SAFETY: The shell should be made from organic fiberglass and carbon fiber in various layers. This creates a shock absorbent shell with optimum rigidity.

LINER: The helmet liner should provide optimized protection through EPS elements. The helmet should utilize a modular three-layer system with various degrees of shock absorbency.

VISOR: The visor should incorporate a variety of features that ensure easy change-ability of visors as well as resistance to fogging. The visors should also provide a high degree of impact resistance.

AERODYNAMICS: Quality helmets are designed with maximum comfort in mind. Streamlined aerodynamic shape along with the aero edge spoilers (which is race inspired) reduce drag and lift at high speed.

GOOD LOOKS: I put this last because it really isn't as important as all the safety and comfort features...but we all want to look good in a helmet, right? Well, with a huge variety of styles and colors to choose from, you can get a helmet that looks great and keeps you safe and comfortable.

What to look for when buying a quality motorcycle helmet.

There are several things to consider when purchasing any helmet. Firstly, is fit and comfort. Consider purchasing a helmet that is lightweight, and fits snugly without pinching or rubbing in spots.

Visibility is another important factor. You need to be able to see forward as well as to the sides. You might also try your prescription glasses while trying out the helmet to assure a comfy fit.

Finally, consider the ability of the helmet to manage air flow. No one wants a helmet that is noisy and constantly buffetting in the air.

Importance of Motor Homes

Many people have confused awareness about motor homes. The simple definition of it is a structure similar to home, which is either self-powered or is towed by another vehicle. The internal design is similar to a regular home. On an average, a motor home has a kitchen, bathroom, study and bedroom. Though, the size ranges from small teardrop to luxurious American one, which includes the space unheard of in average homes. Most of these vehicles, known as RVs or recreational vehicles, do not require the owner to have any additional legal documents for the vehicles below the capacity of 3.5 tones, other than the regular driving license of the country. The ease of keeping these vehicles in terms of cost and upkeep has generated increased interest in the mind of people for using such RVs.

It is not difficult to find information about motor homes. The users can simply search in search engines like Google. Yahoo etc and it would throw up many web pages dealing with this topic. The renewed interest of the people in this type of vehicle with home facility is seen as the attempt of the population to move away from their daily grind, full of recession stories, loss of jobs and frustration. Most of the people are looking towards an exciting vacation to take them away from such sources of monotonous life. As the cash crunch is higher than ever before, everyone wants to have vacations out of their cities minus any boarding and lodging expenses. It appears as the logical option in such scenarios.

The renewed interest of the peoples in knowing more about motor homes has resulted in them trying to decorate it in the styles similar to their usual 'static' homes. It has been found that some people carry their offices in it, completing it with a personal computer, high speed data connection and a satellite TV. The huge space available in a motor home far outweighs the advantage of taking the car or a minivan for the vacation. In a car, there is a need to attach a trailer, in case the volume of the load in the car is beyond its capacity to handle it.

As more and more holidaying individuals and families use it, the doubts in the mind of people about it is dispelling away. Most of the people in Europe and America prefer to travel to the holiday destination in this type of car. The ease of parking it anywhere and the freedom of worry from searching of a hotel room in already crowded tourist destinations, make this car the ideal option. It is easy to visit the sights and stay there with it. Watch the sunrise or sunset from the popular tourist destinations, while sitting inside the motor home, sipping away the favorite coffee. The comfort of home-away-from-home coupled with the ease & economy with environment friendliness, provided by motor homes is an experience in itself.
