Helmets - The Patterns and Uses of the Different Style Helmets

New schemes from banks and other companies have made access to our passions much easier and the only passion common in the youth is the bike-riding. As such, number of bikes in the country has increased tremendously. Increased traffic means increased number of risks of accidents on roads. Some really responsible citizens always use a helmet for their protection, but past many years the use of motorcycle helmets has been made mandatory. As a result, people are deciding upon which helmet to wear and which not. This confusion is very common and just needs the right guide for the same. Type of helmet depends upon your riding experience like amateur, professional or novice. In any case, a helmet is a pre-condition for a safe riding.

The two types of helmets available are 'full face helmets' and 'modular helmets'. For a novice or a beginner, a safer helmet, i.e. a full face helmet accompanied with ISI mark is preferable. A full face helmet covers your head down to the chin. There is a bar fixed at the chin which is movable for the rider's convenience, but the only a kind of drawback in these helmets is that you need to take them out for having something or for drinking water. These drawbacks can be undermined, for they will provide confidence to excel your riding skills with ensured safety.

Next are the professional or experienced riders which need the speed and must wear a helmet too. The risk of crashes increases with the pace. Full face helmets are heavy, but much safer. Actually, there is no significant difference between full face and modular helmets. It's just that the modular helmets are less heavy and do not need to be removed when drinking water, etc. and just need to pull the face mask up. From the safety point of view for the speedy riders, full face helmets are more advisable. Besides the protection of head, dust and rush of air is also averted from entering into eyes with help of the face mask in front. Lesser the number of distractions, lesser is the risk of mishap.

The amateur riders, riding for fun and at a low-risk speed, have a full fledged choice of helmets. Helmets come in various sizes and appearances. Stylish helmets, although less, but do have a safety factor and are preferred by the calm riders. All of them may not be ISI certified, but are ideal for voyaging leisurely.

In spite of the importance and necessity of wearing a helmet, many still overlook its use. It is still felt uncool to wear a helmet, talking practically. Let me give you a true example of the importance of a helmet enough convincing in my view. I, myself, used to hate wearing a helmet, until I met a crushing mishap. It was a usual day and I was going to hang out with friends and for us, bikes are important for hang outs. As we were moving on to the destination, we sped up on a road without any bumps. Who knew that just due to the scattered sand particles, my bike would skid off the road. I was shoved on the road with so huge thrust that there was hardly any body part left without any bruises, but my head had the worst wreck of it all. Doctor even suggested a CT scan for head and X-ray for one shoulder. I got bulges on my cheeks and looked like a black moon for more than a week and all this wouldn't happen if I had wore a helmet, be it full face or modular. What worse than this could make a guy realise the importance of a helmet? I wear it regularly since then and hopefully you all will do the same.

Popular Custom Chopper Parts For Your Next Project

The chopper is one of the most unique looking motorcycles on the road today for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons is that they have a look like no other bike on the road and are unique in the sense that they are created based on a new and fresh design just about each and every time. The chopper really is a motorcycle like a Harley Davidson with many of it's parts replaced by custom parts and accessories. The existing parts of the chopper have been chopped off. Another type of chopper is one that has been built completely from scratch, and not broken down from an existing motorcycle.

There are a number of reasons motorcycles are turned into choppers. A couple reasons being that this is done to make the motorcycle lighter and more maneuverable. Of course, another important reason that choppers exist is because of the unique look that they create, and their creators love to show them off. We started seeing choppers early on around the time of World War II when it was desired by the soldiers that were coming home to have lighter motorcycles like they had over in Europe. The only way they could make the bikes lighter was to "chop" parts off of the motorcycle, hence the name, Chopper. This started an entirely new trend as many people began looking for new and interesting chopper parts and the market began to boom.

There are a number of chopper parts that are popular among those who enjoy building chopper motorcycles. The handlebars, wheels, and tires are a few of the more popular parts that are typically "chopped" when a custom chopper is built. Handlebars are usually modified so that they reach further back towards the rider in order to make for a more comfortable ride. There are a number of different chopper style wheels that can be added to the motorcycle to give it a little extra class. Some of the most popular types of wheels are the magnesium alloy which create the perfect chopper look. Others still also prefer the spoke look and have not strayed to far from that concept. In most cases the front tire is changed to a bigger and skinnier tire, and the rear is changed to a wide and smaller tire.

Some of the more popular chopper parts also include the frame, seats, fuel tank, and brakes. These parts can be easily customized with custom paint jobs, designs, and more to give the chopper a unique look and feel of its own. One thing to keep in mind is that before you purchase chopper parts for your motorcycle, be sure that they will be compatible with your bike and that you buy your chopper parts from a legit dealer. Purchasing chopper parts can be somewhat costly, but in the end they are definitely worth money when you see the finished product that they have become a part of.

Why Should You Wear Motorcycle Helmets?

Due to the advent of technology and urbanization man has created a lot of things for his convenience. People in order to create comfort and to enjoy a lot of luxuries developed these inventions into daily use products. Like cars and motorcycles which are now called bikes. A motorcycle is a vehicle that is used for transport facilities by humans.

A motorcycle has two wheels and a rider has to sit on it and ride. Unlike cars motorcycles are not covered or surrounded by four doors which actually protect the rider. If a man riding a bike falls down he has to hit the down. This will sustain injuries to the rider. Most of the accidents that happen to the rider affect the head. It is a lot more difficult to escape from a head injury than any other injuries on the human body.

This is the reason why motorcycle helmets were introduced. motorcycle helmets refers to a head gear; it is a protective head gear that is used by the motorcycle riders. The prime requisite of wearing motorcycle helmets is that it prevents or reduces the chances of a severe head injury in certain cases it ends up saving the person's life.

Motorcycle helmets have evolved since their invention. These days' helmets are also used for style purposes. They protect the ears, face shields are provided and there is also room for ventilation. The motorcycle helmet was invented by a doctor who faced a lot of patients due to motorcycle accidents. His detailed research in the area led to the invention of the helmet. The helmet introduced the number of accidents and fatalities caused by the motorcycle to a greater extent.

Due to this many countries have created laws that have made it mandatory for motorcycle riders to use the helmet while riding the motorcycle. There are different types of helmets and a few other special types that are used by racers. But the basic types are five in number. They are full face, off road/motocross, modular or flip-up; open face or ¾, half helmet. All these types of helmets as special in their own way and by the end of the day they all provide protection to our heads. Certain helmets are designed in such a way to protect the whole face as well. So people use helmets save lives.

Wearing Harley Davidson Helmet is Worth the Fuss

Like the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the Harley-Davidson helmet has its distinct look that compliments the total effects of riding a Harley. Although the purpose remains the same like any other helmets in the market, the Harley-Davidson in effect projects style that makes the Harley rider feel what should be felt. But, many would still ask: is a Harley-Davidson helmet worth wearing?

Year after year, many motorcycle accidents have been reported all over the country. These resulted to severe head injuries to the people involved. Or worse, these accidents claim lives. Why? Majority of people involve in motorcycle accidents do not wear helmets. And some would say that if these people only wear helmets, their fate may have been different or the damage created may have been minimized.

Just recall the motorcycle accident of the football star "Big Ben" Roethlisberger. (Oh, for those who do not know Big Ben, he is the star quarterback of the Pittsburg Steelers.) Many say that if only Big Ben wore a helmet, would only walk away with minor bruises.

It was said and will be said over and over again: Helmets protect you.

For people who think that wearing helmet while riding their Harley-Davidson would mean removing their freedom that the motorcycle projects, they might disregard its importance. But the fact still remains, in case of accident, a helmet would come in handy.

Here's the statistics: In the State of California, study shows that out of 900 accidents involving motorcycles, 980 necks have been injured. Most of them are not wearing helmets. Here's another fact. In Canada, nobody can ride motorcycle without wearing helmet. Sadly (well, it may not be sad at all to most riders), here in the United States, many states would let riders to exercise their freedom whether to wear helmet or not.

It is a given fact that helmet is the most important accessory to buy after buying Harley-Davidson motorcycle. And it must be worn when riding a motorcycle at all times. So, thinking of skipping a Harley-Davidson should not be on the list of things to do.

To wrap up, owning a Harley-Davidson takes a lot of responsibility. Unlike 4-wheel vehicles, when your ride motorcycle, you are exposed and more prone to injuries during accidents. And the best way to protect yourself from any damage that can be resulted from this accident is to wear a helmet.

Snowmobile Basics

Snowmobiles are truly one of the best winter activities and if you haven't tried them, you owe it to yourself to at least give it a go.

Before operating your snowmobile, it is always important to note the safety precautions that must always be followed. These are the equipment you should always have before going for a ride:

A helmet - A snowmobile helmet is absolutely necessary for obvious reasons, yet many people tend to take the risk and ride without one. If you want to talk to each other during breaks and are too lazy to remove your helmet, then stop giving excuses and invest in a good modular snowmobile helmet which allows you to flip up the face shield and chin bar easily.

Goggles - There is a wide range of snowmobile goggles available, with light weight ones, those with a nose mask, double lenses, anti-fog lens, and even some with lots of face foam for maximum comfort.

Gloves - You want to keep your hands warm at all times as they'll how you'll be steering your snowmobile. Cold hands often make for slower reaction times so keep those hands warm at all times.

Snowmobile suit - Don't forget, it's winter and you don't want to catch hypothermia. A good snowmobile suit should have water inner lining to protect you from the elements.

You also have to make sure that the equipment fit you well and is fastened properly as snowmobiles is a vigorous activity and we don't want anything flying off when we're having fun.

Remember, snowmobiles is great fun and extremely addictive, but you only have fun when you stay safe. Do not take unnecessary risks and always make sure you have the proper equipment before setting out.

Open Face Helmet Styles - One For Every Preference

The open face helmet is a great style for both men and women. This is also known as a three quarters style. It is a protective head covering designed to help withstand impact to the head. The great thing about this type is that there are so many different configurations available! These are mainly popular within the motorcycle community but they also have their place with riders of all terrain vehicles and quad runners. Many laws require riders to wear helmets for safety purposes and these are certainly a great choice.

The design of the open face helmet is such that a hard outer shell (usually made of carbon fiber, Kevlar or strong plastic) covers the entire back of the head. Inside that hard covering is lining of polypropylene or polystyrene. This type of foam can withstand impact and help prevent serious head injury. The foam may then be covered with a soft material to provide comfort to the wearer. This style fits snug to the head and is help tight with an adjustable chinstrap. Some helmets come with a visor, while others do not. If the model you choose does not come with a visor or face shield, you will want to invest in some protective goggles.

A feature of the open face helmet that many riders like is the ability to customize it. Many of these helmets have snaps. You can purchase accessories that will snap directly on and are interchangeable. Some available customization pieces include snap on goggles, visors and shields. Other accessories that can be used with this style include speaker and microphone sets. These are particularly useful when communicating with other riders during a road trip. You can also purchase custom skins for your helmets. These skins instantly change the look. Plain black is now camouflage. Silver and blue becomes a flat green. The choices are endless!

Other styles beyond the open face helmet include the full-face. This covers the entire head including the chin. A visor that raises and lowers shields the eyes. These usually have vents on the chin and forehead, which help get fresh air to the rider. These offer the most protection, but they can feel quite confining to some riders. There is also the off road or motocross helmet. These are made to provide extra protection to riders that compete in off road events. The likelihood of a fall or wipe out is pretty good during these competitions and the riders need as much protection as possible to avoid concussions and life-threatening brain injuries. The flip up style (also known as 'modular') is a hybrid of sorts. It has the features of a full-face while offering a flip up chin piece. These are also called convertible helmets. Finally, there is the half-helmet. This is similar to the open face helmet although these rarely have any type of face shield provided. They also do not extend down to cover the back base of the head where skull meets base.
